Notes: December 31, 2011

Not going to look back on 2011.  That’s history.  What we learned this week.  Tyler Cone had another great vault camp in Florida at Pole Vault City.  The coaches prediction was 13 to 13-6 very soon and Tyler can do a one fingered pull up.  Now if it was only an Olympic contest.  Winter Camps in Phoenix were hampered by high school schedules that produced this past week as the only week every one had off from school.  So, Todd’s Camp and Nick’s Camp were held at the same time.  Will Hooper chose to go to Nick’s camp that also featured Jeff Hartwig returning from last year.  As usual the weather was perfect.  I was impressed that Jeff took Will aside and did a lot of individual coaching. Dunkirk, New York –

Tyler Gajewski continued his season-long assault on the Dunkirk indoor track and field record book Thursday at the Fredonia State Fieldhouse.

Gajewski obliterated his previous school record in the pole vault with a height of 12 feet. His old record, set earlier this year, stood at 11 feet. He cleared both 11 feet-6 inches and 12 feet on his first attempts. Gajewski added a fourth-place finish in the 55-meter hurdles in 8.99 seconds.
