New Haven — Jane Martinez and Kaitlyn Kuvalanka placed first and second, respectively, in the pole vault, leading the East Lyme High School girls to a third-place finish in the CIAC Class L Indoor Track and Field Championship Monday at Floyd Little Athletic Center.
Martinez cleared 10 feet and Kuvalanka soared 9-6 while teammates Jaimee Szupiany (tied for third, 9-0) and Emilie Farrugia (sixth, 9-0) also scored for the Vikings. Andrew Perez was Fitch’s top finisher at the Class L Championship, placing second in the pole vault at 12 feet. Teammate Eric Powers was third, also clearing 12 feet.
