Henderson, Kentucky –As a team sport, track is often a numbers game. That could be good news this season for Henderson County. At the top of the Colonels’ lineup are the pole vaulters. Under assistant coach Kevin Ferguson’s tutelage, the pole vaulters continue their strong tradition. Sophomore Cain Cooper, who finished third in the state last year, already has one state title under his belt this season after winning the indoor crown at the Mason-Dixon Games with a personal-best vault of 13-3. He did that while also devoting time to the basketball team, where he was the starting center. Henderson County’s stable of vaulters includes Mitchell Demar, Jenny Deibler, Tori Hester, who was seventh in the state last year, and Bethany Wicker, who placed sixth in the Mason-Dixon Games.
