1000 mile run set to raise money for Dare Fund

On August 27, eight Penn State graduates (including Harrisburg resident Brian Fuller, right) and two Lock Haven University alums (Ryan Blood) will begin a 1,000 mile journey on foot toward Penn State University for the Life Back on Track Relay.
They will begin at the University of Minnesota, and over five days they will travel toward a World Record.
It’s all part of a larger goal, of course, to raise $20,000 for the Kevin Dare Foundation, which provides financial support to high-school athletes who have suffered a debilitating injury or illness to help them achieve their academic goals at a four-year institution of higher learning. Kevin Dare is a former Penn State University athlete who died tragically at the University of Minnesota while attempting to pole vault in 2002. A foundation was set up in his honor shortly after. The race director for the Life Back on Track Relay, Ryan Foster, has been organizing this event for the past six months. A 2011 graduate of Penn State, Foster, 23, is a former Nittany Lion track and field athlete. The 10 runners who will gather on August 27th will attempt to honor Dare in the 1,000 mile relay, a potential World Record if they can finish in five days time.
